The Dutch synth-pop musician Richenel has his work reissued for a second time by Music From Memory. The imprint has selected another six tracks from Richenel’s debut, ‘La Diferencia’, which premiered on the underground Amsterdam cassette label Fetisj back in 1982. The six songs on this Music from Memory release include tracks taken from Richenel’s personal copy of the album and an additional composition not found on the Fetisj original. Richenel made stage appearances with numerous disco groups back in the 1980s, celebrated amongst Amsterdam’s underground punk and new wave scene for his vocal capabilities and the gender-defying nature and creativity of his shows. ‘Perfect Stranger’ contains a selection of sultry synth and disco inspired tracks, including the hypersexual ‘You’ve Got the Love’ and the Kurtis Blow-esque ‘Rap Apocalypse’. An interesting snapshot of Holland’s underground art and squat scene at a specific moment in time.
