Whistle is a typically forthright collection of techno from the Boston producer. ‘Penchant Disenchant’, ‘Vain’ and ‘Residual’ are all unhinged four-to-the-floor jams which, if not exactly industrial-strength, are certainly heavy enough to dominate any mix. Even the beat-less cuts ‘Dicey Takes Its Form’ and ‘I Could Get You’ are arrestingly eerie in a manner that makes one think of what Mark Mothersbaugh might come up with if he ever released something on Ghost Box.
