Even by the standards of the bbbbb roster Volruptus is an oddball. His 2017 EP Alien Transmissions was a club four-track characterised by maniacal beatwork, dark humour and just … weird stuff in general. It was unusual, and we loved it. After a dalliance with Nina Kraviz’s TRIP, Volruptus is back on Bjarki’s label with another extraterrestrial transmission. Alien Agenda somehow manages to be even zanier than the preceding releases. Entries like ‘Misanthropy (Dark stöff) v1’ and ‘SÚRMATUR’ go beyond acid and end up in hyperspace. The super-quick drums and breathless synths have a bit of a cyber-techno flavour to them. Again, this is real good fun from one of the contemporary clubsphere’s more unique artists.
