Mr. Mitch returns to his own Gobstopper Records for the first time in four years to drop an EP of thoughtful club fare. The title of Primary Progressive refers to the degenerative form of Multiple Sclerosis that Mitch’s father battles with. As such, this record is a more sombre listen than the tender paeans to fatherhood that cropped up on Mitch’s two Planet Mu LPs. These tracks still push the boundaries of club music, mind - from the slow grime-funk of ‘Restart’ to the Hot Chip-does-r&b ‘Show Me’ we find Mitch making music for both the heart and the head here.
