Birds Of Venezuela, a 1973 record from legendary field recordist Jean C. Roche, gets a re-release courtesy of Sub Rosa (Bill Laswell, Harold Budd). After collecting sounds in the Caribbean in 1969 Roche began to wonder what the birdsong of nearby South America was like. He upped sticks to Venezuela and ventured into the country’s forests in order to capture the unique calls of the Rancho Grande, the Palmar, the Ocumare and more. This new pressing comes with extensive notes from known Roche fan David Toop.
