After a few records released on his own Man Band imprint, Toma Kami lands on Peverelist’s Livity Sound (Facta, Hodge) with a two-track drop. A-side ‘Sharp Tool In The Shed’ is a real conflation of styles. A polyrhythmic tuned percussion sample suggests a samba band, while the kick and snare are equal-parts electro and big-beat, and the rich synth stabs nod to Jam City. Toma Kami manages to bring all this together into a club jam that’ll mix well with a variety of genres. On the flip, ‘Land Of The Insane’ is a funny old thing that brings to mind There Is Love In You-era Four Tet trying his hand at dub techno.
