Techno overlord Alex.Do releases ‘Songs’ on Cologne-based imprint Magazine. Regularly performing at Berghain in his native city of Berlin, Alex’s taste in techno has been cultivated by a prolonged exposure to the best producers the genre has to offer. Recorded directly to tape in an effort to retain the energy of the original productions, this EP contains four works that stutter from LFO dimensions of insanity to the kind of dark, creepy energy associated with Blawan and Pariah collaboration Karenn. While ‘Hecto’ and ‘Basecap’ get right to the point of Alex’s electro/techno agenda, the intro to ‘Harmoni’ demonstrates a fragile and almost goofy atmosphere within the EP’s library of otherwise menacing sounds. Some strong EBM influences on closing track ‘Questions’.
