Bit Tuner likes to travel. His LPs The Japan Syndrome and The China Syndrome demonstrated his fondness for foreign lands. Both records saw the Swiss producer incorporating recordings from his time spent in those countries into his Brainfeeder-esque brand of hip-hop. His latest record Arabian Nights follows a similar pattern. Taking samples and found sounds collected in Cairo, the forty-minute record was then tracked live at Zurich’s Helsinki Klub. The resulting album is a heady brew of lopsided beats, brash MIDI synth textures and the sounds of both a real and an imagined Egypt. Paul White and the LA beat-scene spring to mind.
