Silkie’s been in it for a minute now. Impervious arrives ten years on from the London producer’s first release on Deep Medi. When compared with the two tunes on 2008’s Hooby, these three cuts both demonstrate how Silkie’s style has evolved down the years and also stayed true to his dubstep roots. While you wouldn’t find the grand orchestral samples that crop up on the title track or ‘Egyptian March’ anywhere in his early discography, the emphasis on bassweight and 140-bpm half-times remains unchanged. In the middle of all this we get ‘Reevea’, a future-funk jam reminiscent of Swindle. Impervious by name, impervious by nature.
