A record of glitch experiments from William Jourdain’s Automatisme project here. To create Transit, Automatisme’s second full-length for Constellation (Carla Bozulich, Godspeed You! Black Emperor), Jourdain journeyed out into the countryside and towns of his native Quebec. After capturing audio of caves, forests and waiting rooms, Jourdain fed the field recordings back into his modular set-up to realise these adventures in sound. While tracks towards the back of Transit stick to the murky IDM-techno style that characterised 2016’s Momentform Accumulations, much of the record finds Jourdain stepping boldly into unknown territory. A strong dark-ambient seam runs through the album, while the dubby atmospherics of ‘Bureau 3’ could pass for Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement.
