Not to be outdone by their peers Maribou State, Jungle make sure to get their long-awaited new LP out before the Summer is fully done. While their core styles may differ - Jungle’s music is rooted in blue-eyed soul while Maribou State prefer house - there is a similar air of breezy popism to both acts’ new full-lengths. Jungle’s sophomore LP doesn’t set out to reinvent the wheel. For Ever turns in another set of festival-ready neo-funk tunes that are surely set to dominate the airwaves for the coming year or so. Anyone who’s come back to the band for another dose of slick grooves and smooth falsetto will not be disappointed. Not that there’s no progression on display here, mind. The likes of ‘Heavy, California’ and ‘Cherry’ show off a light psychedelic influence that wasn’t apparent on Jungle’s self-titled debut record.
