Experimental Belgian musician Ssaliva (nevrland, munix) returns with a meditative volume of short compositions played out on a nylon-stringed koto. Released as the first segment in a series of CDs, unplugged vol. 1 is limited to 500 pieces in the format of digipack in silver pantone with black. Ssaliva’s pieces of ethereal koto pop are stripped back fractures of shiny emotion that frequently leave space for listeners to fill in blanks with their own imagination. The vignettes are brave and unpolished. Ssaliva makes no attempt to distract or impress with embellishments or exaggerated production. Highlights include ‘fall w me’ and ‘shard’.
