‘On the floor, right now, that’s where you’re gon’ work your body’. So begins WFM, the new record from Heavee. The latest in a long line of Teklife upstarts, this Chicago producer sticks to his opening play across the eight subsequent tracks. Ably aided by the likes of Gant-man, DJ Paypal and DJ Phil, Heavee spins out footwork tunes that maintain a lightness of touch while not shying away from the polyrhythmic frenzies on which the Teklife crew have built their empire. Cuts like ‘Move Back’ and ‘What U Waiting For’ show a good ear for harmony and melody. There’s also a beyond-the-grave feature from DJ Rashad on ‘It’s Wack’.
