Get On Down with another gem from the Arthur Russell vaults here. Many of you will have cut shapes to both the ‘Male’ and ‘Female’ versions of ‘Is It All Over My Face?’ down the years. The 1980 tune is a stone-cold classic from that golden age of NYC clubbing when The Loft and Paradise Garage was in full swing. Operating under his Loose Joints moniker Russell brought in a load of regulars from The Loft to cut the original ‘Male’ edit. Like many of Russell’s party tracks, it’s full of quirky instrumental and production choices yet still keeps a tight groove going throughout. The Larry Levan-helmed ‘Female’ take is a sleek, sexy number that became a key track in the evolution of Chicago house.
