Colored Music’s eponymous record was initially released in 1981, a time when Haruomi Hosono’s psychedelic pop style was a big deal in their native Japan. Hosono’s influence can be felt here, for sure, but so too can the forward-thinking sounds of David Bowie’s Berlin trilogy and even the dreamy New Wave of (funnily enough) David Sylvian’s Japan. That’s We Release Whatever The Fuck We Want with another reissue of a rare Japanese gem, then - seriously, how do they keep uncovering this stuff?
