Imagine if Simon & Garfunkel or Creedence Clearwater Revival were jamming out on a road trip across the Côte d’Ivoire with a host of local musicians joining them along the way and you’ll get the gist of this latest ATFA reissue in a second. The truth is that Jess Sah Bi and Peter One were heavily inspired by this soft and breezy 70s country-folk style and sought to combine what they heard emanating from the US with sweet West African melodies. Apparently a massive cassette hit back in the day, Brian Shimkovitz brings this lost pan-global folk classic to the forefront amidst the hordes of African disco/boogie reissues. Good man!
