Hot on the heels of the third installment of Clara!’s Reggaetoneras mixtapes, the Spanish producer/MC drops a collaborative collection with Maoupa. Meneo is a bristling, hard-wired take on Reggaeton that will immediately draw comparisons to the likes of Bad Gyal and Bala Club. The tunes here are minimal and rugged, updating the Dembow template with contemporary sounds. ‘El Raton’, for instance, is a new version of the classic ‘Playground Riddim’ replete with bass hits straight out of the book of Eski. While Clara!’s voice rarely gets above a quiet drawl, her tight flow and carefree vibe provide a compelling focal point for the instrumentals that her and Meneo cook up.
