French composer Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch returns to 130701 (Ian William Craig, Hauschka) with her second LP for the label. As with previous full-length Like Water Through The Sand, Epoques is a collection of stirring contemporary chamber music that draws heavily from both the English and French traditions. The influence of Claude Debussy and Michael Nyman are apparent on solo piano takes like ‘Martello’ and ‘Redux’, while ‘Fracture Points’ will appeal to anyone who has enjoyed the recent releases from Village Green. While relying for the large part on acoustic instruments, Levienaise-Farrouch also brings a little sonic wizardry into the mix here - see the sound-art trickery that laces ‘The Only Water’ and ‘Overflow’.
