Interdisciplinary artist Luke Wyland is known to most as the vocalist and founder of the American art-pop band AU. With his latest alias, LWW, Wyland drops 3PE, the first in a series of albums released on The Leaf Label. An applied study on the function and use of repetition in musical composition, 3PE is a minimal outfit with only one track (the intro, CTP) containing more than three sounds overall. In spite of this, 3PE manages to offer successfully a selection of works untethered by the weight of the album’s conceptual constraint. With repeated use of alternate tuning systems, 3PE demonstrates a collection of disparate tracks happily united under one unifying theme.
