James Ferraro is a prolific experimental musical composer currently living and performing in America. His previous work included drone noise project The Skaters alongside Spencer Clark. Released on Ferraro’s own label, Four Pieces for Mirai is one part of an epic study based on a civilisation in decline due to the technological abundance in which it has immersed itself. The first quarter of a body of work which will be released gradually over the course of a year, Ferraro’s conceptual study is both a sophisticated and damning account of the society we currently live in. A tapestry of eastern and harsh modern, Ferraro’s concept becomes literal as technology infiltrates the songs, as evinced via the telephone samples on intro track ‘Fossils’.
