Dutch producer Parrish Smith, also known by his Volition Immanent alias, makes his debut on Dekmantel’s UFO label, home to techno producers such as Randomer and Peter Van Hoessen. Sex, Suicide & Speed Metal demonstrates Smith’s modus operandi of genre meshing, embracing an eclectic post-punk sound that seamlessly melds metal rock guitar solos into robot dreamscapes and industrial noise influences onto hip-hop inspired drum beats. His disregard for conformity and consistent ability to surprise comes to the fore and as the LP progresses it grows increasingly difficult to identify a common denominator amongst most of the tracks.
