Soul Jazz Records
Catalogue Number
Release Date
July 13, 2018

The long and fruitful partnership between Soul Jazz Records and Clement ‘Sir Coxsone’ Dodd’s Studio One continues with the second compilation in the Black Man’s Pride series. Righteous Are The Sons And Daughters Of Jah finds Soul Jazz focusing once more on Studio One’s Rastafarian roots records of the 60’s and 70’s. These seventeen cuts chart the label’s relationship with the Rastafari religion and its music. Rastafarian artists such as Alton Ellis, Horace Andy and Jackie Mittoo all turn in soulful and potent numbers. There are also rarities from Willie William and Mystic Revelations Of Rastafari. Rob Chapman, author of the meticulous Studio One catalogue Never Grow Old, provides sleeve notes.
