Mogwai have made plenty of music for the screen in their long and varied career. From Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait to collaborating with Trent Reznor and others on Before The Flood, the Glaswegian group have frequently found their sound to be a good fit for film. However, the stuff that they’ve come up with for Jonathan and Josh Baker’s KIN is the first time that they’ve ever been in sole charge of making the music for a feature-length movie. Unsurprisingly the band appear to relish the task. Across these nine pieces Mogwai showcase the full range of their sonic arsenal, from piano-laced drone (‘Eli’s Theme’) to monolithic post-rock (‘Guns Down’).
