Igneous, the first segment of London-based producer Rommek’s Set in Stone trilogy, drops on James Ruskin’s prestigious Blueprint label. Igneous contains original techno content by the producer characterised by tracks like ‘Obsidian’ on the A-side, with its harsh kick drums and dark overtones. Rommek takes ‘Obsidian’ as a starting point from which to carve a more caliginous set of tracks on side B and both ‘Rhyolite’ and ‘Scoria’ are haunted by crackles of interference and periods of pitch bent tension.
