The Italian electronic music duo, Ozmotic, return with Elusive Balance, this time out on Touch. Although primarily focused on production in the realms of electronica and glitch Simone Bosco and Riccardo Giovinetto are known for mixing genres as diverse as jazz and noise in order to obtain their signature sound. Understanding their performances and recorded output as a relationship between the musician and audience that requires a kind of emotional response on both ends, Elusive Balance could just as readily be a reference to this desire to maintain equilibrium as it is a discussion on society’s relationship with nature. Swinging between jazz horns on songs like ‘Elusive Balance’ and ‘Being’ towards more ambient/drone centred pieces like ‘Whisper’, a fitting description for the LP might describe it as the lovechild of Autechre and Miles Davis.
