Reissue of one of Moodymann’s essential texts. On 2003’s Silence In The Secret Garden, Kenny Dixon Jr. came up with one of the fullest realisations of the Moodymann sound. The fourth Moodymann LP still grounded itself in a luxurious deep house sound similar to Theo Parrish, but so many other elements are brought into play here as well. Plenty of the basslines show off a novel acid influence, and there are also strains of spiritual jazz, funk, soul and hip-hop in the grooves. The title track alone is an Afrofuturist club masterpiece. This new edition of Silence In The Secret Garden is out, of course, via Peacefrog.
