Capitol K, the stagename of Kristian Craig Robinson, returns with his seventh studio album, ‘Goatherder’. Operating under the moniker since 1998, Robinson released his early music on Planet Mu and XL Recordings, before creating his own label, Faith and Industry, in 2004. Robinson has produced music for The Comet is Coming, Patrick Wolf and Brandon Cox of Deerhunter at his renowned Total Refreshment Studio. His new album is an eclectic mix of genres and influences, recorded in a converted studio and goatstable in the artist’s native Malta. The majority of the instruments used are created from bamboo and include an ancient reed pipe known locally as a Quecha. ‘Fennel Dance’ is particularly beautiful and presumably refers to the use of dried fennel stalks on the album’s production.
