After having stuff released by labels like 1080p and Lobster Theremin, Vancouver duo Minimal Violence sign to Ninja Tune’s Technicolour offshoot for a new two-track release. Both ‘MVX’ and ‘U41A’ are the kind of evocative darkside rave tunes that sound like they’ve been cooked up for use in the next Blade film. ‘MVX’ combines hardcore breaks and big-room drum tracking with spooky synths that are ripped straight from the world of darkwave. The melodic feel remains the same on ‘U41A’ while easing off on the drums a tad. Imagine some of the recent CPU releases with a more Gothic flavour.
