A regular on Swamp81/81 since the early 2010s, recent years have seen Paleman spread his wings and release on his own PLMN and, now, Zehnin (Roots In Heaven, Lucy). Mind you, the change of scenery hasn’t brought about much by way of a change of style. The four tracks on Searching are still the sort of murky soundsystem techno that Calum Lee has been cranking out for a couple of years now. Both ‘2068’ and the title track of this EP sound like more paranoid renderings of Martyn’s ‘Masks’. On the flipside, ‘The Peg Loosens’ and ‘Slurp’ bring out their hard-hitting minimal grooves by dousing themselves in reverb and delay.
