Italian New Agers Lorad Group see their 1988 LP Sul Tempo re-released by Lily Records. Sul Tempo is intended to be a sonic chronicle of the working day, and in a strange way it pulls this off. The timbres Sul Tempo favour - dinky keyboard sounds, warm synth pads, gently pattering drum machines - recall the familiar musical styles of telephone hold music, telemarketing soundtracks and self-help videos. While these aren’t the most celebrated of styles, Lorad Group manage to synthesise them into an aesthetic that is oddly charming. Anyone enjoying recent releases by Seance Centre and the reissue of Manos Tsangaris’ Elephant’s Easy Moonwalk Through The Night should give this a go.
