The now 72-year-old composer Kryiakos Sfetsas delivers this mindblowing blend of afro-cuban, psychedelic and traditional Greek jazz fusion alongside his long-standing orchestra. Forming in 1976, they grouped together to push the boundaries of the jazz scene that was brewing in their home country out of a fixation with the Parisian avant-garde of the 60s. Recorded in 1977 by Yannis Sigletos this Teranga Beat compilation explores a fraction of their previously unheard work. Will appeal to anyone with wide-ranging tastes but think Roland Brival, Okay Temiz etc!
