Nonplace (Burnt Friedmann, Drone) have delved deep into the past for this one. German composer Manos Tsangaris originally released Elephant’s Easy Moonwalk Through The Night in 1990, and almost three decades on it remains a brain-bending musical achievement. It’s not every day that you find a track which will appeal to techno DJs, sound artists and ethnomusicologists in equal measure, but ‘Elephant’s Easy Moonwalk Through The Night’ manages to be just that. The mix of rave sirens, electro drums and stabs of synthesised xylophone recall a more scattergun version of Arthur Russell’s disco material. This re-release comes backed with ‘Elephants Cry Salty Tears’, a more organic companion piece for the A-side.
