Half a decade on from their last full-length (2013’s Back To Land), the American West Coast psych royalty that are Wooden Shjips are back with a new LP. V. - the band’s fifth album (no kidding) - comes just in time for summer from a band who know how to do summertime music. The eight tracks here are lovely, languid psych-rock jams which take in elements of classic rock, Krautrock and 60s fare ala The Beach Boys. They are long songs - only ‘Already Gone’ clocks in at under five minutes - and their lengthy run-times allow the band to demonstrate their masterful ebb and flow.
