Dread filled/fulled techno chews from Acolytes on Helm’s Alter label. Four years on from the s/t LP Acolytes returns to envelop us in a shroud of sprawling field recording manipulations, drone sound scapes and eerie textures. Dark ambient would be the easy label to band about here but across the seven tracks we’re treated to a range of influences, from the Russell Haswell esque ‘Aneurysm’ to the Peter Rehberg style modular synth blips of ‘Feelings 2’. Some super nice moments on this one and definitely a contrast to the plethora of easy listening ambient available at the minute. Seriously good mutant techno transportations designed to obliterate all that step in its path.
