Terre Thaemlitz aka DJ Sprinkles dropped Deproduction, her first new LP in a half-decade, at the back end of 2017 in the form of a memory stick. This release sees two of the record’s bonus cuts put to wax, and both of them demonstrate the fearlessness and versatility that Thaemlitz has become well-known for down the years. One side features just the haunting piano from Deproduction’s ‘Admit It’s Killing You (And Leave)’. At times cold and sparse, at others beautifully lyrical, it’s a captivating listen. The A-side sees Thaemlitz shapeshift into Sprinkles and turn in an evocative ‘Dead End’ remix of the same track. A dubby deep house number full of strange atmospheres, it brings to mind Arthur Russell collaborating with Ricardo Villalobos.
