You may remember when the legendary DOOM video game franchise was rebooted to much fanfare back in 2016. A critical and commercial success, the new and improved DOOM featured music from Wolfenstein/Marvel Super Hero Squad composer Mick Gordon. Given that the DOOM name is synonymous with gameplay of unrivalled intensity, it’s no surprise that Gordon’s accompaniment is a similarly unrelenting affair. The sixteen tracks that make up this official soundtrack release undulate between breakneck thrash metal and dark, eerie ambiences. Audio from the 1993 DOOM game is also incorporated as a throwback to the series’ early days. Gordon won a GAME Award for Best Music for this, by the way.
