Non Series (Chevel, Henning Baer) follow up their 2017 Genetics EP from Aiken with a collection of remixes. Unusually, Blawan’s entry is the most restrained of the trio offered up on Genetics: Remixes. The UK doom-techno veteran flips the title track into a tense, vaguely two-stepping techno jam that has more in common with Axel Boman than Surgeon. Surely he’s not getting soft in his old age? Either way, it’s another fine notch in his bedpost. Volt-Face turns ‘Hybrid’ into a tense, humming DJ tool that slowly ramps up in intensity across six-and-a-half minutes. The EP rounds out with an ear-splitting re-rendering of ‘Dominance’ by James Ruskin.
