Groenland Records have been on something of a reissues tip of late. Classic cuts from the likes of Deutsche Amerikanische Freundschaft and Neu! have been given a new lease of life by Herbert Groenemeyer’s label in the past year. To that list we can now add two collaborative LPs made towards the end of the Cold War by Can’s Holger Czukay and Japan’s David Sylvian. Tracked at Czukay’s Cologne studio - indeed, Sylvian wasn’t initially aware that Czukay had been taping his experiments - the pair stumble upon a formula that balances ambient drones with pockets of melody and techniques transplanted from music concrete. Remastered after being out of print for some time. The version of Plight & Premonition is a newer mix made in 2002.
