This Record Store Day release from Finders Keepers sees the crate diggers extraordinaire unearthing yet another lost classic of the 20th century. All Sorts Of Heroes is an early recording by two artists who would go on to have long and glittering careers in the world of Mancunian post-punk. While Steve Hopkins and Martin Hannett would later find fame in John Cooper Clarke’s backing band The Invisible Girls, their 1976 track ‘All Sorts Of Heroes’ was created to soundtrack a short animation shown at the 1976 Ottawa International Animation Festival. Now presented for the first time on vinyl, the track is the sort of weirdo-punk-funk that, to modern ears, clearly signposts the paths the pair would soon take (Hannett would later produce records for everyone from ESG to Joy Division, and Hopkins went on to work with Nico and Penetration).
