The sessions for Portico Quartet’s acclaimed fourth LP, Art In The Age Of Automation, were very fruitful. So fruitful, in fact, that they spawned more material than the London group knew what to do with. As such, ten months on from that album we get Untitled, or: Art In The Age Of Automation, Part 2. While this record works as a companion piece to the first album, Untitled … is a fine record that more than stands on its own two feet. As usual, the group cast their sonic net wide. One minute they can be creating a beautiful downtempo soundscape on ‘Index’, the next they’re on to ‘Unrest’, a groovy number reminiscent of There Is Love In You-era Four Tet.
