It feels like we’re welcoming in a new Discrepant record every week. Luckily, this is far from a bad thing. They’re now one of our go-to sources for experimental electronics, field recording manipulation albums and general weirdness. Conceived by London based artist Tasos Stamou after an extended residency trip on the Greek island, Musique con Crète marries traditional instruments with layered noise and found sound in a way which juxtaposes the old and the new in a genuinely exciting manner. Sure, the concept is nothing new, but the execution here is great. A must check if you’re familiar with Οπτική Μουσική (Greek avant project/Optical Musics)
