Hackney label Blank Editions present James Vella aka A Lily’s fourth album. Opening with the reverb soaked, gloomily downtempo vocal cut ‘Banana Moth’ we’re catapulted right into Vella’s world with little time to prepare. It’s a cinematic piece with the sounds of echoing meditation bowls both opening and closing the track. The rest of the album follows suit with varying degrees of decipherable lyrics and soft piano and guitar work accompanying them. Dreamy, late summer atmospheres aplenty. Guaranteed to appeal to fans of Antony & The Johnsons etc.
