Bleep

The latest LP from Simian Mobile Disco sees the group coming through with arguably the finest synthesis of their pop nous and experimental tendencies. Murmurations features several collaborations with Hackney’s Deep Throat Choir, and when combined with the band’s masterful techno the results are intense and stirring. Obvious comparisons include Bjork’s Biophilia and another London choral ensemble - Gaggle - but the way in which SMD and DTC approach making music together is almost as if the band have begun working with a living, breathing modular synthesiser. As such, the group’s usual impeccably-rendered dancefloor fare is imbued with a newly transcendent feeling across these nine tracks.
