Glasgow has been at the very heart of UK bass music this year. Its prime conduit, Numbers - its influence, its reach - is surely expanding, perpetually beyond these shores. From the collective ashes of Wireblock, Dress2Sweat and Stuffrecords was Numbers, the label, minted. At its roots a desire to melt together the seemingly disparate sounds of R&B, techno, electro, house, dubstep, UKF and 80s funk under one glorious groove. The single, If You Want Me, from Deadboy, lit the touch-paper and now, as the year winds down, we can revel in the sheer exuberance, innovation and skill with which the Numbers crew have picked their targets. With a year of singles to feast upon from the likes of SBTRKT, Roska, Kavsrave, L-Vis 1990, Redhino and beyond - Numbers we salute you!
Numbers features as Bleep's Top Label of 2010.
