Highly influential live recording from the spiky post-punkers Wire finally made available again on the groups Pink Flag imprint. Considered a classic piece of film, On The Box 1979 was recorded in front of a handful of people back in 79 for West Germany's TV show Rockpalast. The broadcast truly captures Wire on the crest of creativity and features tracks that whilst new then are long time considered classics in 2016. Much like Magazine's live album Play from the year after, On The Box captures a time of post-punk creativity channeled (excuse the pun) into live performances, playing live because they have no choice but do it because they have to get this music out into the world. Essential viewing we'd say.
