Label head Jimmy Asquith provides a guide to Lobster Theremin.
The one that started it all. Pretty much an all-time classic already and puritanical lesson in how to breathe new life into old ideas. Boy done seriously good here :-)
Huge rolling breakbeat euphoria from our primo Australian artist. Hands in the air vibes all the way from beginning to end and it's closed plenty of sets I've played since I heard this.
The art of stringing together heart-wrenching melancholia while making people dance to full effect has been pretty much mastered by our resident cider-swigging Hungarian, Route 8. Pizza slices all round.
One that kicked off our sublabel Mörk. Timeless, deep, hazy techno that has a hint of Traumprinz in there but extra foggy textures and soaring strings that fully glisten on the reflecting surface of the soul.
This launched our Distant Hawaii imprint and for good reason; it was so summery and light and almost balearic I couldn't really put it out on Lobster or Mörk. You'll be reaching for the Bloody Mary's when it proper goes, you'll know when.
On reflection should probably have been on Distant Hawaii but this is sandwiched between both raw, scuffed and arpegiatted techno tracks. Probably the best beach-side house track to use a sea gull sample.
Juno-heavy, Legoweltian techno at its finest. Imre somehow pulls ghosts out of the machine to get a sonic texture all of his own and it's puled out in full effect here. Incredible overlapping melodies too.
Snow Bone has done a fair few solid and scary EPs for us, but this was the clincher really. A proper big build from the floor up and then comes roaring out the blocks wit THOSE thundering hats. Proper warehouse bizz.
Hazy, dubbed-out house from London Luke Palmer aka Ozel AB. He always manages to switch tracks up with plenty of bubbling, weirded-out paranoid elements and strange vocal cuts. His finest mind-bender this one.
Scorched Earth has never been further scorched until touched by Manse. Pretty much a human Large Hadron Collider when it comes to production. This has it all, off-time drum skits, hammering kicks and ravey-as-hell stabs. Oh and massive drops ;-)
