R&S / Clone alumnus and science-fiction-toting, globe-trotting techno traveler Space Dimension Controller joins up to the Ninja Tune fam for this album first written when he was just a twinkle in the eye of club doormen at 18. Written by the producer on lo-fidelity gear in his Belfast bedroom, Orange Melamine channels the gauzy ambient-beat of BoC, spectral flotation tank electronics of Eno, William Basinski, and the VHS fug of erm, VHS Head on downers. That haze, that crunchy ferric hiss is the result of using 1970s cassette stock giving this beautiful, melodic work a real nostalgia for the tape days, the lost teenage afternoons watching Ghostbusters behind drawn curtains while the sun beats down outside.
