Estonian composer Maria Minerva’s fourth album for Not Not Fun is her first to be recorded entirely in the US, and marks a move away from the ghostly samples of previous works to a more vivid electronic mosaic with roots in the UK bass scene. This is immediate on tracks like ‘Spirit of the Underground’, whose zapping low-end and vocals of endless journeys through the night conjure up clubbers’ tube rides, and the jagged techno of ‘Wolves & Lambs’ which grooves and fidgets like vintage chart dance. Another feather to the producer’s already impressive bow.
