The third entry in MIssissippi Records’ archival reissue series of her work, Jerusalem again collects hard-to-find recordings of the otherworldly piano compositions she used to help fund orphanages, chiefly from her 1972 LP Hymn of Jerusalem. Tracks like ‘Home of Beethoven’ and the masterful title track plot her shift in approach from purely devotional to something that bridged the divine and the secular into a sort of new modern classical. The world sadly lost Emahoy Tsege Mariam Gebru only recently, and this compilation serves as a worthy would-be tribute to a one of a kind figure.
