Following his latest album Songs Of Love And Decay for Dekmantel, Broken English Club serves a mix of furiously scrubbing bass and strutting and stomping rhythms. The swirling signal scratches of Russell Haswell combined with Sunn O)))’s continuous pummel of guitars are folded into coursing industrial techno beats from Ansome as BEC layers four tracks on top of each other for an intense opening salvo of rhythm and noise. What follows is no less unrelenting: the electricity of Scalameriya zaps and groans like the pulverising kicks and thumps are eviscerating the track’s machinery, and Samuel Kerridge’s ‘Propagates Of Desire’ is an obsidian trip through thorn-riddled electro, with visceral, ominous, foreboding spoken word from Aaron Turner.
"This mix pushes and pulls alot of sounds around, it starts with Sunn O))), one of my favourite bands, their intense wall of sound guitar drones are a type of spiritual experience. Then we take in Aphex Twin and Scalameriya, with their broken beat industrial acid. Then there's the violent electro of French band Programme then we head towards the finish with the weirdo sounds of Gabber Modus Operandi and heavy death metal of Innumerable Forms. It's so much of what I love compressed into an hour, "techno through the distorted mind of BROKEN ENGLISH CLUB""
